Title:   GENDER IMBALANCES: A GREAT THREAT TO CULTURAL LEADERSHIP IN

Abstract
This paper explores the consequences of gender-cultural and political leadership in Nigeria using
case study’s approach to appraise the life histories of two groups of women. It takes gender as a
category of analysis, recognizing the contributions feminist theorist have made. Although, more
emphasis should be placed on power politics, without necessarily deemphasizing alternative
options such as affirmative action, it should, however, be pursued within a frame work of
competitive politics so that the legitimacy, effectiveness and autonomy of women in decisionmaking
will not be compromised as cultural superiority brewed violent and wanton destructions of
lives and properties as those believed to have superior culture trampled over self-acclaimed
inferior practices of other groups. Understanding gender relations will improve socio-economic and
political wellbeing of Nigeria nation.
